Nov 22: We have moved the due date for the final paper/project to NOVEMBER 29. We set the due date for the 2-page reflection paper: DECEMBER 6.

I handed out a course debrief survey today that you are welcome to complete and submit anonymously. This will also help you to gather your thoughts for the reflection paper.

I do not have a specific topic or format in mind for the reflection paper. It should, unsurprisingly, reflect what you think were the most important or challenging or interesting learning aspects of the course for you in particular. The best reflection papers will include the following: a concrete example; a reflection on that experience or aspect of the course; some discussion of strategies or “going forward” insights that you will take away with you into other learning situations.

I would like to provide a pizza lunch for the class on November 29. Please let me know if there are any dietary restrictions I should keep in mind.

Nov 2: I have made a post on my main blog about the 3M National Student Fellowships and the information session I will be giving on Monday, November 5. Students can be nominees or nominators so come on out and learn what it’s all about:

Oct 30: 3M NATIONAL STUDENT FELLOWSHIPS

Since 2012, the 3M National Student Fellowship Committee has selected 10 student leaders a year from institutions across the country to be recognized for their past efforts and future leadership contributions.Ā  At UNBC, we have many great student leaders, and the 3M Fellowship is one way we can recognize such students. We are privileged to have five 3M Student Fellowship winners at UNBC!

This award is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Full-time student
  2. Completed one full-time semester of study

According to the 3M process, students may self-identify and ask faculty members to provide a nomination letter.Ā  Faculty members can also approach student leaders to consider being nominated.

If your students (and you, as a nominator) are interested in submitting an application, support from the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology will be available to assist the application development.Ā  STLHE has also provided tips for students and nominators : http://www.stlhe.ca/awards/3m-national-student-fellowship/what-adjudicators-are-looking-for-tips-for-students-and-nominators/

For more information on eligibility please see: https://www.stlhe.ca/awards/3m-national-student-fellowship/faq/.Ā  The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology will also be hosting an information session on Monday November 5th, 2:00 pmĀ  in room 10-3054 (CTLT Boardroom), please drop by!
